Seattle’s Hip, Family-Friendly Enclave Shows Sustainable Growth

Seattle is one of the most thriving cities in the nation, attributed mostly to the fantastic Northwest scenery, flourishing job market, and sustainable economic growth. Despite this impressive advancement, Seattle has kept a strong communal identity.

One of the most renowned neighborhoods in our city that has kept this tight-knit, small town feel is Ballard. Located just five miles north of downtown, this once independent Scandinavian-style fishing village has transformed to a hip, family-friendly hub of the Greater Seattle Area. Seattle annexed Ballard in 1907 and now, 100 years later, remains one of the most sought-after areas in the city. As you walk through Old Town Ballard, you can sense the deep history of this vibrant enclave. Among the various attractions of this area include the year-round Farmer’s Market, the popular 88-acre Golden Gardens Park, and the locally owned private boutiques along Old Ballard Avenue. Ballard attracts people of all ages due to its wide range of amenities, from playgrounds to historic taverns.

Now you might be wondering, how has this small area remained so intimate through this transformation? Because of Ballard’s numerous multifamily zoned land and convenient location to downtown jobs and amenities, Ballard has been able to accommodate new residents through the construction of comfortable townhouses, also known as ‘four-packs’. These four-packs have captivated a countless number of people for several reasons. The homes are newly built, have top-quality finishings, are a desirable distance to downtown, and are inexpensive for the massive amount of amenities offered within the city. The four-packs are a great alternative to apartment and condominium complexes as they provide residents with enough square footage for a full family, while still being located near hip restaurants and boutiques to provide for all of your entertainment needs.
